spiritual place

In order to meet the changing demands of our society, the church must open itself up and take away fears of contact. Pastoral ministries and social tasks are merging and church congregations must be understood even more strongly as a special place of community and togetherness. A new parish centre for a congregation in Meerbusch creates such a connection between the diverse services offered by the parish. Church room and parish centre do not exist in isolation, but become a new space for all parishioners.

The spiritual centre of the new parish centre is a garden attached to the side of the church. Based on the classical cloister, the various functions are arranged and developed around the tour. As in a monastery, not only the sacristy but also the church room is connected to the tour through an entrance. In this way, the parish centre becomes a communal place of encounter in every respect - in everyday life, in the liturgy, on feast days and on private or communal occasions. The new direct connection makes this possible, protected and in any weather.
